THE GEORGIA EAS PLAN FOR YOU TO PRINT OUT AND CONSULT

THE GEORGIA EMERGENCY
ALERT SYSTEM

ARE YOU IN COMPLIANCE?
CHECK OUT THE GEORGIA
PLAN

Here is the EAS RMT schedule for 2004. It follows the same plan we've been following for the past several years, doing a daytime and a nighttime alternating test each month on the last Wednesday of each month. Tests will come within a minute of each listed time, as close to 45 after the hour as possible. Please make sure your staff FORWARDS the message and does not create their own RMT, or run a RWT in place of the RMT. It is also important that your staff not cut off the EOM tones!

REGIONAL MANDATORY ALERTS (RMA) EVENT CODES

The following event codes have been selected as regional mandatory alert codes. All RP, RR, and LP stations will immediately activate the EAS on the main program channel for their assigned region, sub-region, or locale when an emergency message with these codes is received.

EAN Emergency Action Notification (National level emergency)
EAT Emergency Action Termination (National level emergency)
NIC National Information Center
RMT Required Monthly Test *
TOR Tornado Warning
FFW Flash Flood Warning
FLW Flood Warning
WSW Winter Storm Warning
HWW High Wind Warning
HUW Hurricane Warning
TSW Tsunami Warning
EVI Evacuation Immediately

(GEMA will issue this in the event of a hazardous materials situation)
CEM Civil Emergency Message

(For nuclear power plants and earthquakes)

NOTE: Stations may opt to delay the forwarding of a Required Monthly Test (RMT). Delay time cannot exceed 15 minutes from receipt.
A national activation of the EAS for a Presidential message with the event code EAN must take priority over any other message and preempt and message in progress. EAS participants should transmit other EAS messages in the following order: local area messages, state messages, and National Information Center (NIC) messages. During a national emergency, the radio and television broadcast network program distribution facilities must be reserved exclusively for the distribution of Presidential Messages.

National Information Center messages received from national network, which are not broadcast at the time of the original transmission, must be recorded locally for transmission at the earliest opportunity.
